I have loved cooking and baking since I was about 10 years old. I found the desserts and treats I made were typically better than anything store-bought, and enjoyed impressing my friends with my skills. We had several cookbooks in our home that came from various walks of life, and I would browse through and cook from them constantly.
Several recipes I have grown to love were created and perfected by my mom. She is one of the most inventive, creative, original, and selfless people I know, and a true source of inspiration for me. This project has been in the works for several years. I have dreamed of creating a cookbook, website, or blog for decades, but never really took the time to put it together. But in August of 2018, my priorities changed when I found a large lump in my neck that turned out to be cancer.
I went through the necessary radiation and chemotherapy, and am officially in remission as of December 24, 2018! This news was a very welcome Christmas Eve gift to our entire family and group of friends. I am still dealing with some of the side effects of the treatments, but more than anything I am just happy to be alive and feel great! I have a renewed sense of purpose, new perspective, and look forward to living life more than I ever have before.
So without any further hesitation or delay, I present to you Candy Apple Kitchen! Give my recipes a try, and discover the desserts, treats, and other dishes that have become our family favorites for over 60 years!
