  • 1lb baconany type of cut
Instructions
  1. Place bacon strips on to a 1/2 sheet pan. I spread mine out as pictured for a thick-cut bacon. If you use a thin-cut style, you may need to overlap a few of the pieces to get them to all fit. They will cook just fine if you overlap them.
  2. Bake at 400°F for about 18-20 minutes. I have used different ovens and they are all different. Just watch it close after it gets to the 18 minute mark; it will start browning up faster and faster toward the end. For the pictured batch, I didn’t even need to turn the strips during cooking. For thin-cut bacon, it sometimes helps to take them out at around 13-15 minutes and flip them over.
  3. Take your pan out of the oven when the bacon is the way you like it.
  4. Use some tongs and place the bacon strips on to a plate with a paper towel or two in order to collect some of the grease. Nice and flat! Ready to go on a hamburger, sandwich, or straight down the hatch!
  5. The pan looks messy, but it is really not hard to clean. You can easily collect some of the bacon grease from the pan for other recipes also. To clean the pan, I let it cool for a while and then scrape the bacon grease in to the trash with a paper towel or spatula. Soak it in some hot soapy water for a few minutes and all of the gunk in the picture just washes right off. Easy!
Recipe Notes

The story behind this recipe:

Is this even a recipe? I suppose it is more of an instructional recipe, but it is worth posting. For years and years I would splatter bacon grease all over my stovetop or microwave while cooking it. It was messy, used up a ton of paper towels, and required constant monitoring. Some friends mentioned how to cook bacon in the oven, so I gave it a try. It changed my life forever! I hope you see the value of this great cooking tip!
